My patch uses GPIO to enable the headphone amp, which is why yours is probably so quiet currently. So, that's good for the ZxR, although not for the R3Di.ģagl3, the reason it isn't working is probably because you're using the wrong patch.

Thank you very much for your contributions. However, I'm glad to have sound from my card. The only problem is that I can't load alsamixer controls (it gives an argument error) and I can't redirect the sound to my headphones (i need to look forward). I just installed the test_patch from AUR : Īnd it works in my ZXR sound card. I did some searching and managed to find some advice on Gentoo forum (of all places) but it doesn't seem like a complete success: … art-0.html I got the card for like $30 at a closeout sale and it's something like $70 used online. I'll see if I can tinker some more with it. Thanks for the advice V1del, I actually have a Schiit stack for my main computer but was looking for a cheap way to drive 300Ohm headphones on my computer in the basement that I don't use often. If you actively went and bought this as an external PCI, you'd be much better off returning it and going for a more supported offering IMO Another fix that usually doesn't really work is load snd-hda-intel with position_fix=1 in modprobe.d Or try to remap ports with hdajackretask some™ headphone port might work (maybe you'll also have to reconnect the wiring to the headphone front panel), you'll only get stereo out of that afaik. What you might be able to do with varying degrees of success, is use the digital out if you can, that one should work. This pops up every now and then, if you search the boards you will find multiple threads about this.
